Assistant Director of School Safety & Security

STATUS 

Probationary

REQUIREMENTS 

Per Civil Service this position will be filled by a probationary appointment.  You must be on the Eligible Civil Service list to apply.  Civil Service minimum requirements: A) Five (5) years in Police and Military or B) Five (5) or more years in Security Management position, preferably school district. Special Requirement: Valid New York State Security Guard Registration. Possess or be eligible for New York State Certification, as a Security Guard Instructor (preferred).

DUTIES AND 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Security to oversee all aspects of providing and ensuring safety of all students, staff, visitors and property 

  • Coordinate operations, procedures, and policies with respect to the overall security of the school district 

  • Confer and coordinate with district Administrators, law enforcement, and other local agencies on safety and security as needed 

  • Customary duties associated with the position

Full-Time Security Aides (multiple positions)

REQUIREMENTS

  • Prior law enforcement, military, or security background preferred; Security License required

  • This position may be filled according to Civil Service rules on a Temporary Basis, Probationary Basis from an Eligible Civil Service List or by a Provisional Appointment pending Civil Service Examination.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide security and crowd control for the district

  • Patrol hallways and monitor scholar movement for evidence of unusual or disruptive behavior

  • Monitor and control entry to school buildings

  • Customary duties associated with the position
