Assistant Principal - Presidential Park Elementary School

REQUIREMENTS: Successful candidate will be a highly qualified Ieader, who possesses the following: a) Current New
York State School Building Leader (SBL), School Administration and Supervisor (SAS), or School District Administrator
(SDA) certification; b) A Master’s Degree from an accredited institution, plus extra hours in educational administration
and/or supervision; c) At least five years successful experience as an Educator; and d) Such alternatives to the above
qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable. We expect our school leaders to possess
a deep knowledge of great teaching and instruction, and to have demonstrated success in engaging and inspiring a
school community to achieve high levels of student achievement. We seek self-reflective leaders who understand how
race, class, ethnicity, income, disability, and other aspects of difference are integral to our scholars’ academic and
social development and who have experience with urban communities like Middletown’s.

-Demonstrated success in leading teams through productive and challenging work, setting a positive,
supportive atmosphere and leading with integrity.
-Demonstrated success in urban school settings;
-Excellent oral and written communication and conflict resolution skills.
Duties:
-Assist the Principal with operations of buildings including but not limited to transportation.
-In collaboration, thePrincipal and Director of Security, manages security staff, building and issues arising
related to the safety of students and staff.
-Maintain high standards of student conduct and enforce discipline, as necessary, according to the due process
rights of students.
-Oversees disciplinary process and record keeping: able to familiarize students, staff and parents with Code of
Conduct.
-Administer all of the school policies, rules, and safety regulations.
-Help monitor the progress of students, and supervise the reports of such progress to parents. Interact with
parent, student and staff concerns in a sensitive, timely manner.
-Be attentive to school - community relationships and work to strengthen student and family engagement in
education.
-All other duties related to the position as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools

SALARY: Competitive salary and benefits package as per the Middletown Administrator’s Association bargaining unit.
Twelve Month Position.
