REQUIREMENTS

This position will be filled according to Civil Service rules by provisional appointment pending Civil Service Examination.  The minimum requirements for the Civil Service Examination are either:

A) Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with a Master’s Degree including or supplemented by 18 semester credit hours in accounting; OR

B) Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with a Bachelor’s Degree including or supplemented by 18 semester credit hours in accounting and one year of paid general accounting or municipal auditing experience; OR

C) Completion of a minimum of 60 semester credit hours at a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees including or supplemented by 18 semester credit hours in accounting and three years of paid experience as described in b) above.

Note: Certification as a Public Accountant by the State of New York may be substituted for two years of experience.

DUTIES

  • Independently responsible for the maintenance of a comprehensive system of accounts in a school district

  • Exercise functional control over the establishment and revision of accounting systems within the district

  • Perform management reviews and operational shifts

  • Plan and initiate accounting procedures and routines within a uniform system of accounts

  • Prepare financial reports and supporting documentation required by regulatory agencies and the Board of Education

  • Reconcile payroll postings to W2 file.  Prepare state and federal reports for payroll, workers compensation and sales tax

  • Perform reconciliation of bank statements

  • Customary duties associated with the position

SALARY

Salary will be determined according to the MECA Bargaining Unit Agreement

Part-Time Tax Collector

POSITION 

Part-Time Tax Collector

LOCATION

DUTIES 

  • Collect school property taxes via mail, in-person, or electronic payments

  • Maintain accurate records of payments received and outstanding balances.

  • Deposit tax receipts into the district's designated bank accounts in a timely manner.

  • Issue receipts for payments and respond to taxpayer inquiries professionally.

  • Submit regular reports to the school district’s business office or board on collections, delinquencies, and deposits.

  • Reconcile tax records with bank statements and district financial ledgers.

  • Prepare delinquent accounts for further collection action, including liens or handoff to a tax claim

  • Handle tax certiorari matters

  • Customary duties associated with the position

SALARY 

$25/hour

25 - 35 hours per week
